Changelog

Notable changes to the Tanzanite desktop app. New releases appear here first; the in-app About tab and the update prompt both surface entries from this file. Format follows Keep a Changelog; versions follow SemVer.

  • The WebSocket bridge now checks the client version: a desktop below the server’s MIN_DESKTOP_VERSION is refused registration (the bridge twin of the 426 client_upgrade_required HTTP gate) and gets the same blocking Update-required screen.
  • Settings → About tab: the app’s version, a check-for-updates button against the signed update feed, install-and-restart through the Rust install_update command, and release notes from this changelog.
  • Periodic update checks (every 6 hours) beyond the launch-time one, offering an install through the same confirm dialog.
  • Signed auto-updater: the WebView may only ask whether an update exists (updater:allow-check); installing is the Rust install_update command, which verifies the minisign signature against the build’s public key before installing and restarting.
  • Minimum desktop version on the server: MIN_DESKTOP_VERSION is served at GET /api/client-config; a desktop below it receives 426 client_upgrade_required on every /api/* call and the blocking Update-required screen, which updates through the same signed channel.
  • build:desktop release script that refuses to build without the updater public key, feed URLs and signing key.
